This year’s conference theme is Shades of our Struggle. This year, the issue of internalized racism, police brutality and covert racism has been the topic of public discussion in North America. Due to the Donald Sterling incident, our communities are now aware of the pressing issues affecting black professionals today. How is black identity crafted, negotiated and manipulated in our media? What are some skills that are necessary to be more connected to our blackness? How can we build community as a means and tools of building agency? What does it mean to be black today? We hope to explore these questions and more over the weekend.
The conference will feature a launch, public keynote, a full day of workshops, networking session and a gala. Out of city conference participants will be accommodated at the Downtown Toronto Ramada Hotel.
