The United Black Students at Ryerson (UBSR) is one of the largest Student Associations at Ryerson University. It is also our mission to promote a strong sense of community among Black-Identified students at the University. UBSR is also committed to providing a safe space for these students on and off campus. We operate under the vision of promoting education, experience and increasing social empowerment of our community – within the University and beyond. We have a variety of events ranging from spoken word poetry nights, music and pub nights, sexual health information sessions, speakers series events, political debates, and conferences.
The United Black Students at Ryerson strive to celebrate black achievements and also address those issues affecting us, while having fun doing it. Although we are here to celebrate the black experience, we are not here to be exclusionary. We invite people from all races and cultural backgrounds to come out and enjoy themselves at our events. Our hope is that you will gain a better understanding of the issues affecting the black community, society as a whole and most importantly, yourself.
